In the new episode of Nominis podcast which we are producing in partnership with the Association of eCommerce Croatia, we spoke to sales rep for jeftinije.hr, ceneje.si i idealno.rs – Igor Martinović. He noted that price comparison sites have a very simple function, which is to increase merchants’ traffic. This is primarily achieved by reducing the “fear of a better option” because when a customer checks prices on comparison sites, they become confident that they have chosen the most affordable option for their purchase. Also, on many markets, the price comparison sites offer the possibility of direct purchasing through a click-to-buy option.

The difference between regional markets, according to Igor, is that the Serbian market is the most price-sensitive due to lower purchasing power, while card payments are most prevalent in Croatia. He emphasized the importance of working on building trust in the entire online shopping process, where customer reviews can especially help.

In the next five years, the Heureka Group wants to become the Amazon of the East, to be the first place before buying, to have everything in one place and to enable customers the widest choice. My deep belief is that customers must have a choice, and we ensure that they save their time and money through smart shopping,

Igor added that sustainability is marked as the next big thing coming to our market. This will be particularly encouraged by ESG regulations, which will standardize business operations in numerous sectors in the coming years and will crucially affect all business processes in the eCommerce sector.
